Ms. Niecy has been slaying all awards season. Here she is dressed in black headed to the Golden Globe Awards.
Ms. Niecy co-starred on the HBO series, “Getting On,” where she played a nurse at an extended care facility for elderly women. Her character, Didi Ortley, was attentive and principled in a workplace full of hapless co-workers, incompetent bosses and slowly dying patients. The role earned Niecy Nash an Emmy nomination last year, and a Crtics Choice Award this year. The third and final season of “Getting On” ended on December 13. Nash, who says she’s too blessed to be stressed, and happiness is a choice she makes & faith is the path she takes, also starred in Scream Queens, and plays Lolli Ballentine on The Soul Man, the vibrant wife of Reverand Boyce ‘The Voice’ Ballentine, played by Cedric ‘The Entertainer,’ The Soul Man comes on TV Land.
Nash previously told New York Magazine about seeing Lola Falana on TV, and that moment inspired her to want to be black and fabulous on TV:
“When I was 5 years old, I saw the most beautiful black woman I had ever seen in all my five years of living, on television. She had on a long red dress and her eyelashes looked like butterflies. And I looked at my grandma and I said, ‘Grandma, who is that?’ And my grandmother said, ‘Baby, that’s Lola Falana.’ And in that moment, I knew. I said to my grandma, ‘That’s what I want to be. I want to be black and fabulous and on TV.'”
and fabulous you are Niecy!!!!!!
