After hearing of the passing of singer Natalie Cole, gospel singer, Kurt Carr shared with his followers that his heart was broken but that he was at peace.
Kurt Carr tweeted, “My heart is broken BUT at peace!” after Natalie Cole died at 65 from complications linked to ongoing health struggles.
“She was such a beautiful person inside and out,” said Carr, who once performed his hit song “I Almost Let Go” with Cole on Trinity Broadcasting Network’s flagship program, “Praise the Lord.”
During that appearance, Cole, share her testimony that she had once contemplated suicide. “But something spoke to me and said just hold on a little bit longer,” she said.
Cole said she found strength while living with an aunt in Chicago back in the early 70s.
“There was a little card on her table that she kept there every day and when I’d wake up in the morning I would see that card and it would say, ‘Expect a miracle,’” Cole said. “And when I would come home at night there were praying hands in the window. She always kept those praying hands.”
