Golden Globe winner, Taraji P. Henson has joined the list of black actresses who have added Golden Globe winner to their resume. Last night, the star of Empire won her first ever Golden Globe… Was anyone else caught off guard by her acceptance speech?
USA Today’s Entertainer of the Year actually surprised me that she didn’t give a heart pulling speech, but instead in true Taraji form, she was ‘REAL.’
When she first began, my thoughts were,”she wasn’t prepared”, but as she continued my thoughts shifted to,” this is why we love her”…. she is just her authentic self at all times.
For those of you who may have missed the moment, here is what Golden Globe Winner, Taraji P. Henson said,
“Cookies for everyone tonight — my treat,” the actress began after passing out the cookies to everyone that was in view. “Hollywood Foreign Press, thank you. I mean, who knew that playing an ex-convict would take me all around the globe. It just goes to show — I thought it would be Queenie, Will, my character from Karate Kid — but it’s Cookie, who spent 17 years in jail for selling crack. So the world loves real, thank you. So many people to thank. My manager… my publicist…”
She went on to say,
“Please wrap?” she scoffed at the apparent note on the teleprompter. “Wait a minute. I waited 20 years for this. You gon’ wait. Yeah, you gon’ give me a little more time.”
Recently the actress posted:
“When God has selected you, it doesn’t matter who else has rejected or neglected you. God’s favor outweighs all opposition. You are a winner! I’m a winner baby!”
Taraji… Yes, you ARE a WINNER!
Here are a few pic’s from her arrival at the annual InStyle and Warner Bros. Golden Globes after party at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.

Congratulations again Taraji
