After an impressive rookie season, Robert Griffin III once looked like he would be the Washington Redskins’ franchise quarterback for years to come. Injuries and an inability to progress derailed that narrative, and left RG3 cleaning out his locker this morning — and leaving behind a Bible verse.
As I watched the Redskins play yesterday, I couldn’t help but wonder…what happened, as the camera continued to pan to RG3 on the sideline, not even in uniform. Even though he has not officially been released from the team, all signs point to the Redskins moving on from the former first-round draft pick. If it is truly his final time as a Redskin, he made sure to leave the team with one final message.
The verse reads: “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
