Same Kind Of Different As Me starring Renee Zellweger, and Djimon Hounsou as Denver Moore, a true story of forgiveness, friendship, family, and faith, hits theaters Oct. 20th.
Same Kind Of Different As Me centers around a married couple, Ron and Debbie Hall (played by Greg Kinnear and Renee Zellweger), who is facing marital problems due to Ron’s infidelity.
Debbie doesn’t kick Ron out —as long as he remains truthful and does what she asks of him. One of those “asks” is volunteering at a homeless shelter. Ron is hesitant in the beginning and would just rather write a check. (Doesn’t that sound like some of us?)
Guided by her faith and spurred on by the dream of a homeless man she senses will change their city, Debbie befriends a disenfranchised man named Denver (enters Djimon Hounsou). More surprisingly, so does Ron. Despite vast differences, their lives begin to intersect and they all are changed … forever.
Fun Fact: Some parts of “Same Kind Of Different As Me,” were filmed in the Jackson, Ms. area.
The movie is adapted from the 2006 nonfiction bestseller about the unlikely friendship between Ron Hall, a wealthy white art dealer, and Denver Moore, a former sharecropper-turned-drifter.
