The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, announced last Thursday that two black artists will be painting the official portraits of the Obamas.
It’s been reported that the Obamas also had a hand in choosing the wildly popular artist, Kehinde Wiley, and up-and-coming artist Amy Sherald.
Though the museum has not released the specific unveiling date, the portraits will be revealed in early 2018, at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC., according to the official press release.
Wiley and Sherald, will be the first black artists to officially paint a presidential couple.
