The future site of the National Museum of Gospel Music was blessed last week by political and religious leaders in the heart of Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood.
The National Museum of Gospel Music is being constructed on Chicago’s Southside, which was once the home of Chicago’s Pilgrim Baptist Church. (the church burned down during an accidental fire) The historic church is also where Thomas Dorsey “The Father of Gospel Music” was the music director for decades. The ceremony also paid tribute to Dorsey.
“To see what’s going on now, we’re encouraged,” said Dorsey’s grandson, Thomas Dorsey III.
Pilgrim Baptist Church is also considered the birthplace of Gospel music. Some of Gospel music’s legends sang there, including Aretha Franklin, Albertina Walker, Mahalia Jackson, James Cleveland, The Staple Singers, and The Edwin Hawkins Singers. Another fun fact: Martin Luther King Jr. also delivered sermons at Pilgrim Baptist Church during the civil rights movement.
Following the blessing, a benefit concert was held to help raise money for the structure.
The push for the National Museum of Gospel Music is spearheaded by Don Jackson, who’s the successful businessman behind the creation of the well-known Stellar Awards.
The 45,000-square-foot facility is expected to open in 2022.
Seth Curry, son of Dell Curry has married Callie Rivers, the daughter of Doc Rivers in Malibu, California.
Callie wore a Galia Lahav gown, while Seth wore a pale blush jacket from It’s Good Clothing that blended with the white and blush roses perfectly.
The couple called on wedding planner to the stars, Mindy Weiss to make their enchanted and magical Malibu wedding come to life.
From the flowers, to the breathtaking glass aisle….it truly was a wedding fit for basketball royalty.
It was a family affair as Riley, Ryan, and the couple’s daughter, Carter served as flower girls.
The Curry’s know how to party, so it’s no surprise that Seth’s parents, Dell and Sonya Curry got loose on the dance floor. Chile, momma Sonya was not playing in that green dress and sleek hair… She is goals!
And Steph Curry is an entire mood during his entrance into the reception with Ayesha.
Seth, who currently plays for the Dallas Mavericks and Callie, got engaged in Charlotte during NBA All-Star weekend.

The vocal Bible dropped a hot new single “Freedom Rings,” on the 25th anniversary of her self titled debut album Brandy.
Brandy is not playing with us ya’ll, she sings her truth over a sick beat! She worked with singer/songwriter Sebastian Cole on the single.
Freedom Rings is the lead single from her upcoming album that she teamed back up with the late Lashawn Daniels aka Big Shiz on. She even made sure to pay homage to Daniels on the behind the scenes footage for the making of the single, calling Daniels her “Angel”.
“Lashawn Daniels, my head Angel in heaven. I know it. LaShawn Daniels is my Angel. April is my Angel, his wife.”
“I’m working on my new album, and can’t wait to release it later this year. I’m thankful for God’s blessings and for the support of my fans,” the singer shared this summer when she dropped “Love Again” with Daniel Caesar.
Check out Freedom Rings, and tell me what you think.

Super spy Lance Sterling (Will Smith) and scientist Walter Beckett (Tom Holland) are almost exact opposites. Lance is smooth, suave and debonair. Walter is … not. Patricia Heaton made her return to CBS on Thursday in the new comedy “Carol’s Second Act.”
The actress, who starred in two award winning shows in the past, (Everybody Loves Raymond and The Middle), shared with the blog Patheos recently that she doesn’t get a lot of offers, but the ones she do get are always winners, and it’s because of her faith in God.
“I’m coming off two biggies, yeah. You know, I don’t know. I put my career in God’s hands many years ago, and He has been faithful. That’s all I can say. I don’t get a lot of offers, and the ones I do get are so superior, so I say yes to them.”
In her new CBS comedy “Carol’s Second Act” Patricia Heaton plays a 50 year old divorced mother who decides to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a doctor.
You can watch Carol’s Second Act Thursday night’s at 9:30-10:00 PM, ET/PT on CBS.
One of my favorites, Byron Cage aka “The Prince of Praise” just released a brand new album “Isolation,” on Malaco Records.
On this latest project, Byron Cage wants listeners to hear the time he’s spent with the Lord, and his embrace of the younger generation of worshippers.
“You know, I haven’t done a new record in seven years. I dropped the two singles, “Like No Other” and another song called “Good to Me”, but this time around I wanted to show you where I’ve been in my process and in my time spending with the Lord,” Byron recently shared with Rolling Out. I also wanted to incorporate a younger generation of worshipers with my music. I’ve got younger producers and some of the songs that I’ve done sounds like the young people today, but I’ll never get far away from church. You’re still going to have a good time. I just wanted to make sure that I reached everyone, the masses, and no one feels like they can listen to a Byron Cage record and say, “I can’t relate to anything on that record.” So, there’s a little bit of everything on there. I’m really excited to get back to it, and travel the world, and share this gospel music that I Iove.”

On the season 2 premiere of God Friended Me, Miles tries to help the God Account’s new friend, Joy (Jessica Lu), figure out what the account wants from her after she receives her first friend suggestion since getting Miles’ name — a soldier on leave in New York.
Also, Simon (Adam Goldberg) helps Cara reconnect with an important person from her past while she’s in Paris; Rakesh settles into his new role as head of Research & Development at IdentitySeal; and Trish is concerned when Arthur is reluctant to buy a new home with his fiancée and sell the house where he raised his family.
