Lecrae ‘I WANT TO RESTORE THE VIEW THE BLACK COMMUNITY HAS OF ITSELF’

Grammy Award-winning rapper, Lecrae said he hopes his new album, Restoration (out next month) , and its accompanying book “I Am Restored,” will inspire the black community to focus on what God says about them and not the world.

Here is an excerpt from the conversation the Atlanta based rapper had with Black Enterprise.

I’m excited to put out some healing music. I want people to know that you’re never too messed up for a restoration. Second divorce, prison sentence, it doesn’t matter. There’s always hope, healing, and restoration available if you seek it.

Lecrae

I want to restore the view the black community has of itself. We can change the narrative, empower the disenfranchised, and close wealth gaps. We can restore the dignity that was stripped from us. We can lean on God to restore our sense of purpose and worth. I am partnered on several projects to restore Atlanta’s English Avenue, an area known for its rampant drug trafficking and violent crime statistics. I’m also an active member of the Board of Advisory for Peace Academy, the first school in the English Avenue area to be opened in more than 20 years.

At a special request of Tamron Hall, Bishop T.D. Jakes was on her show Monday to share an excerpt of the inspirational message he gave during the opening of Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, and he also gave the audience some advice on dealing with grief and setbacks after the passing of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna.

Bishop T.D. Jakes

“It is death that makes life special, and bringing it into perspective.. that we stop wasting things like time, having love for people and we don’t tell them, not resolving old conflicts, having unforgiveness are the enemies, the cancer that eat up this precious commodity that we call time.”

“It is often the things that we go through that cause us to become the people that we are, not the positive things, but the negative things.”

LeBron James Releasing Children’s Picture Book “I Promise”

LeBron James is releasing two children books with Harper Collins.

The first book, “I Promise,” which comes out later this year, is a picture book inspired by the “values and initiatives” of his foundation’s I Promise program in Akron, Ohio.

LeBron James

The beautifully illustrated book’s message is simple, yet powerful:

“Success starts with the promises we make to ourselves and our community today.”

The second book, which is already in the works, is a middle grade novel that is due out in 2021.

“Books have the ability to teach, inspire and bring people together. That’s why these books, and the opportunity to get children and parents reading together, mean so much to me,” James said in a statement. “Most importantly, we wanted to make sure these stories are ones that every single kid can see themselves in. I Promise is powerful in that way and I can’t wait for people to read it.”

EverBe Cosmetics: Inspiring Women To Believe Who God Says They Are!

Introducing EverBe cosmetics, the first ever beauty brand that affirms a woman’s God given identity.

Created by Candice Coffey, the beauty brand is inscribed with Bible verses that are designed to uplift and inspire women.

The collection features a variety of colors of lip butters, eye shadows, a bronzer and highlighter sticks, each with a different word from verses in Psalm 34 written on them, such as “Favored, Fruitful, Pure, Humble, Radiant and Redeemed.”

Your spiritual beauty will reflect in your face — care for it well!

everbe cosmetics

Now, more than ever, our culture says that a woman’s beauty and value are reflected only by her sexuality. But every woman wants to feel beautiful, loved, and know she has purpose, Coffey shared with the Christian Post.

EverBe is a call for women to rise above culture’s definition of beauty, and discover that their worth and true identity is found only in their Creator — their Heavenly Father — and what He says about them.

We can tell our girls that beauty comes from within, but words alone will not solve the problem of poor self-worth. We have to pair experiences with those messages. EverBe is a tangible act that reminds a woman to speak, apply, and be what our Father has said we are in his Word.

All our down is vegan, and we just got an award for all the vegan shoes and boots we do,” said Hamilton, adding that up to 75 percent of the collection was sourced more sustainably for spring.

Jennifer Hudson Moving Kobe Bryant Tribute During NBA All Star Game

Jennifer Hudson sang her face off as she paid tribute to Kobe Bryant during the NBA All Star game Sunday night in Chicago.

Jennifer Hudson

The Chicago native sang “For All We Know” just before the game started. As images of Kobe and his daughter Gianna were projected on a screen behind her, J-Hud had the crowd at the United Center in tears as she performed an a-capella version of the song.

She was introduced by basketball icon and businessman Magic Johnson, who told attendees he wanted everyone to “come together” to honor Bryant and former NBA Commissioner David Stern, who died on New Year’s Day.

“We will never see another basketball player quite like Kobe,” Johnson said. “He was passionate about being a great father, husband, filmmaker.”
