Bad Girl RiRi Wears A Do-Rag For May Cover Of British Vogue

By Posted on 1 min read 556 views

Bad Girl RiRi has always done fashion on her own terms and that’s one of the reasons I love her…

The May Issue of British Vogue was no exception.

According to the magazine’s editor-in-chief Edward Enniful, Rihanna reached out to him at 2:00 n the morning via Whatsapp with the idea to wear a do-rag for the May cover.

“Did I ever think that I would see a durag on the cover of Vogue? No reader, I did not,” Enninful wrote in his editor’s letter. “Although this potent symbol of black life — of self-preservation, resistance and authenticity — has an important place in popular culture, it is rarely viewed through the prism of high fashion. Yet here we have the most aspirational and beautiful durag. How exciting.”

Rihanna talks about life, love, her desire to become a mother… and the importance of owning it in the May issue of British Vogue.

Whitney Houston: ‘I Will Always Love You’ In Library of Congress

By Posted on 1 min read 271 views

The late Whitney Houston music is now in the Library of Congress!

The iconic singer’s version of  “I Will Always Love You” is among the newest recordings inducted into the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress.

Whitney Houston

God gave me a voice to sing with, and when you have that, what other gimmick is there?

Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden last Wednesday named 25 recordings as aural treasures worthy of preservation because of their cultural, historical and aesthetic importance to the nation’s recorded sound heritage.

Two of the additions — Dusty Springfield’s 1969 album “Dusty in Memphis” and Nippy’s rendition of a Dolly Parton classic, “I Will Always Love You” — have a hidden connection. The late singers’ mother, legendary gospel vocalist Cissy Houston, recorded background vocals as a member of The Sweet Inspirations for songs on “Dusty in Memphis.”

Nippy still is and will always be “The Voice” to me!

Former New York Nicks player Stephon Marbury is stepping in to help the city he use to play basketball for and call home.

According to the New York Post, the former point guard has arranged a deal that will sell 10 million face masks to New Yorkers for $2.75 each from a mask supplier in China. That price is almost a third of the $7.50 price that other retailers have been quoting for the N95 masks.

The former New Jersey Nets and New York Knicks player is now a coach for the Chinese Basketball Association’s Royal Fighters and still has family in Coney Island, Brooklyn, where he grew up.

STEPHON Matbury

“At the end of the day, I am from Brooklyn,” Marbury told the New York Post in a phone call from his Beijing home. “This is something that is close and dear to my heart as far as being able to help New York.”

“I have family there in Coney Island, a lot of family … who are affected by this, so I know how important it is for people to have masks during this time.”

Kierra Sheard Launches A 6 Day Devotional Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

By Posted on 1 min read 562 views

Gospel singer Kierra Sheard is using her time of quarantine to help us get our spirit man back in shape!

kierra sheard

In an Instagram post the It Keeps Happening singer announced her decision to launch a 6 Day Devotional after being convicted about the time she had been spending with God before the coronavirus pandemic.

So, yesterday I sat, thought, and got convicted about the time I’ve given God before the shutdown. It hasn’t been enough. This #quarantine has shined a light on my life. I’ve been consumed with work, haven’t gotten much rest, and a bit off course internally/spiritually. I said, “I’m starting again!” and I thought of you. God is definitely worth far more time than this but He honors the acknowledgment of what needs to be adjusted in the relationship, and when we actually make the adjustment. It’s been said that millennials, and the generations after, lack commitment and sacrifice. I beg to differ. It’s so urgent, Wanted to start today but I said I’d start tomorrow so that I could tell you first. Worried about your sleep time? Go back to sleep after we’ve spent time with the Lord. It’s only 15 mins.
