Warner Bros has changed the name of their upcoming drama about activist Fred Hampton who became Chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party.

Formerly known as Jesus Is My Homeboy , the film is now titled, Judas And The Black Messiah.

The film stars Oscar nominee Daniel Kaluuya as Black Panther Chairman Fred Hampton. Hampton was inspiring a generation to rise up and not back down to oppression, which put him directly in the line of fire of the government, the FBI and the Chicago Police.

He was 21 years old when he was assassinated by the FBI. The FBI coerced a petty criminal named William O’Neal to help them silence Hampton and the Black Panther Party. But they could not kill Fred Hampton’s legacy and, 50 years later, his words still echo…louder than ever.

I am a revolutionary!

No word yet on a release date.

Netflix “David Foster Off The Record” Features Whitney Houston

So I’ve been dying to watch David Foster Off The Record, not only because he’s a legendary hitmaker, but because my favorite singer of all time Whitney Houston is featured. With coronavirus going on, I finally had time to sit down and watch it.. I learned some things about Whitney’s history making album The Bodyguard.”

David Foster off the record

Back in 1992 Whitney made her acting debut in The Bodyguard alongside Kevin Costner. For the soundtrack Whitney was set to record another song as the lead track, but it had just been used in another film. In the doc David shares how he called Dolly Parton up about using her song “I Will Always Love You,” in the film. Of course she was on board and excited for Whitney to sing her song.

David then clashes with Costner and Whitney’s longtime mentor and friend, Clive Davis on how the song should begin. Costner wanted it to be a capella and Clive Davis also agreed, but David wasn’t feeling it. In the end Costner and Clive Davis version is what was played on the radio and it instantly became a hit!

“Record of the year, this is the one, this is very special, it really is.”- Whitney Houston

Whitney took home 8 awards for the Bodyguard Soundtrack during the 1994 AMA’s.
