Russell Wilson and Ciara announced the official launch of its first-ever Why Not You Academy in the state of Washington.
Opening in Fall 2021, the new high school is tuition-free and is an extension of the Why Not You Foundation.
This school is a longtime dream of ours and it was important for us to find a way to combine traditional classroom learning with community and mentorship-based activities, in order to prepare kids for the real world. Why Not You is based on the idea that it can start with one and our hope is that this school will be the first of many.”

J-Hud is singing her face off on the new single from the Motion Picture Soundtrack.
The single, “Here I Am (Singing My Way Home)” was co-written by Carole King, J-Hud, and Jamie Hartman.

Congress has passed a resolution establishing Juneteenth as a National holiday.
June 19th is the actual day that the last enslaved African Americans were granted their freedom. On that day in 1865, Union soldiers led by Gen. Gordon Granger arrived in the coastal city of Galveston, Texas, to deliver General Order No. 3, officially ending slavery in the state.
This was more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation which declared that as of January 1, 1863, all enslaved people in the states currently engaged in rebellion against the Union “shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free.”
Jennifer Hudson is dropping a new single “Here I Am” from the upcoming Respect movie this Friday.
“Here I Am” (Singing My Way Home) was co-written by the GOAT herself Carole King.
The song will appear on the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack to RESPECTand serve as the film’s only original song. Hudson was handpicked by Franklin to portray her in the film from MGM, which opens in theaters nationwide on August 13th. The soundtrack will be available on the same day.
Music is such a living and breathing character in this film, as it was in Ms. Franklin’s life. The process of creating this song was like constructing the greatest tribute I could possibly offer to her spirit. It was the final exhale of this extraordinary project and one that I let out with complete fulfillment. Being able to do so with Carole and Jamie was an incredible privilege. Carole is one of the greatest songwriters of all time and, whether we were trading stories, playing piano together over video conference, or working through lyrics, it was always a masterclass – both in life and music. Jamie and I have collaborated together in the past and it’s always so wonderful to create with him – he is continuously thinking outside of the box in a way that deepens the musical experience in indescribable ways. Our goal was to show that music was always the anchor for Ms. Franklin, in all that she did, and I hope this song illustrates the strength of her voice – both literally and figuratively – which always brought her home.”

President Joe and Jill Biden spent their last day in the UK accompanying the Queen for tea at Windsor Castle.
Joe Biden and Jill Biden tea with the Queen came on their last day in the UK for the G7 Summit.
At the airport before boarding Air Force One, the President called the Queen gracious and said she reminded him of his mother.
“She was very generous,” the President said. He said he did not think she’d be insulted if he said she “reminded me of my mother in terms of the look of her and the generosity.”
Dr. Jill wore a powder blue sheath dress and matching jacket with nude Valentino heels for her visit with the Queen. The Queen looking regal as usual in a pink silk Stuart Parvin Dress and Rachel Trevor-Morgan hat.

With an announcement saying,”He’s Back!” like MJ did back in the day, Kasim Reed is running to become the ATL’s Mayor again!
Atlanta, tell LA, tell New York, tell Charlotte, tell Dallas, tell Chicago and definitely tell Miami, I’m back.
Reed announced his candidacy Thursday night with a birthday fundraiser at the home of singer Tyrese Gibson.
Mayor Reed held the position from 2010-2018. He was Atlanta’s 59th Mayor.
Back in 2015, I had the opportunity to visit with the former Mayor’s administration and learn what they were doing around data driven government. I witnessed a leader who operated with a spirit of excellence and required the same of his team.
Keisha Lance Bottoms, Atlanta’s current Mayor, recently announced that she was not running for re-election.
