In case you couldn’t make it to D.C. for the grand opening of the Smithsonian’s new National Museum of African American History and Culture, no need to worry, ABC will air an all star celebration of the event in January.
The two-hour show, which is titled Taking the Stage: African American Music and Stories that Changed America, will premiere Thursday, January 12, at 9 p.m. ET.
Among the many stars that took part in the celebration were Mary Mary, Fantasia, Stevie Wonder, Patti Labelle, Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, Oprah Winfrey, and Will Smith and many others. The event, which featured music, dance and spoken word performances, was held on September 23, one day before the museum’s official opening.
