At Sunday night’s ABFF (American Black Film Festival) Honors, Ava Duvernay was honored with the Industry Visionary Award, and OWN’s Queen Sugar won Best TV Show (Drama) during the annual awards show.
The 2018 ABFF honors, was hosted by Cedric the Entertainer, and held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
DuVernay, who created Queen Sugar for the Oprah Winfrey Network accepted her Industry Visionary award from The Chi creator, Lena Waithe. She was also joined on stage by some of the cast of Queen Sugar, Dawn Lyen- Gardener, Bianca Lawson, Tina Lifford, Dondre Whitfield, and Timon Kyle Durrett as they accepted the Best TV Drama award for the second year in a row.
The Queen Sugar cast, who is back in New Orleans for filming, will also be honored, along with the creative team at the PaleyFest on March 24th in L.A.
