Bad Girl RiRi has always done fashion on her own terms and that’s one of the reasons I love her…
The May Issue of British Vogue was no exception.
According to the magazine’s editor-in-chief Edward Enniful, Rihanna reached out to him at 2:00 n the morning via Whatsapp with the idea to wear a do-rag for the May cover.
“Did I ever think that I would see a durag on the cover of Vogue? No reader, I did not,” Enninful wrote in his editor’s letter. “Although this potent symbol of black life — of self-preservation, resistance and authenticity — has an important place in popular culture, it is rarely viewed through the prism of high fashion. Yet here we have the most aspirational and beautiful durag. How exciting.”
Rihanna talks about life, love, her desire to become a mother… and the importance of owning it in the May issue of British Vogue.
