Casey J, who is the youngest artist on Fred Hammond’s Festival Of Praise Tour, says concert goers should expect something different than your normal gospel concert. The Fill Me Up singer explained that the format is different than your typical concert.
“The format is a lot different than a typical concert. People might be used to an environment where Fred (Hammond) may get up and do a set, then Hezekiah (Walker),” she said. “We sing all the songs mixed together. It’s all seven of us on stage at the same time, all night.”
Casey J wen to to say that the show’s format has led to a number of surprises for both the audience and the performers themselves, including the opportunity to perform a number of the genre’s classic songs with the very artists she looked up to as a child.
“I’m the youngest artist in this group. A lot of these songs, I grew up listening to with my mom. I’ve been listening to Hezekiah (Walker) since I was eight years old.” she said.
Ultimately, she said that she hopes concert-goers leave feeling excited, inspired, and with a deeper understanding of the artists behind the songs.
“I think the surprise people are finding is being introduced to music they may not know or people they may not be aware of,” she said.
