On Tuesday the ladies announced that they’ve teamed up to produce a new docu-series “Hair Tales.”

So so excited to finally announce “The Hair Tales,” a docuseries that will act as a love letter to Black women celebrating our joyful brilliance through the portal of our hair! An intimate journey of identity, culture, legacy, beauty, strength and love! This series is personal and universal, American and global. Ooohhh I’m so excited!- Tracee Ellis Ross

The docuseries, scheduled to begin production later this year and premiere in 2022, combs through the history of Black women through their hair, which has been used both to discriminate against them and also reclaimed as a part of their identity.

”The Hair Tales” will air in 2022 on Hulu and the Oprah Winfrey Network, as well as internationally on Disney+.

The streaming service announced today (Friday) that the family comedy series is being renewed for a 2nd season.

About The Upshaws Season One:

Bennie Upshaw (Mike Epps), the head of a Black working class family in Indianapolis, is a charming, well-intentioned mechanic and lifelong mess just trying his best to step up and care for his family — wife Regina (Kim Fields), their two young daughters (Khali Spraggins, Journey Christine) and firstborn son (Jermelle Simon), the teenage son (Diamond Lyons) he fathered with another woman (Gabrielle Dennis) — and tolerate his sardonic sister-in-law (Wanda Sykes), all without a blueprint for success. Season 2 of the hit Netflix show ended with Jack being shot, but at the beginning of the new episodes we find out that he survives! Thank God! And it looks like he and Mel are working things out.

The upcoming season will have fans (like me) emotions all over the place. There’s a fire, break-up, custody battle and health issues that the folks of the town will have to deal with.

I became a fan of this show towards the beginning of the pandemic and I’ve been hooked ever since.

Starring Alexandra Brekenridge, Martin Henderson and Tim Matheson, season 3 premieres July 9th on Netflix.

Taraji P. Henson Cast As Miss. Hannigan In Annie LIVE Musical

If her role in I Can Do Bad By Myself is any inclination, Taraji P. Henson is about to slay Ms. Hannigan in ANNIE.

Taraji P. Henson

It was announced that Henson will portray Miss. Hannigan in NBC’s holiday production of ANNIE LIVE!

Even though a couple of great actresses have played Miss Hannigan in the past, my childhood memories consist of the late Carol Burnett. The legendary Burnett brought the role to life, and Henson feels the same way.

Carol Burnett, who brought Miss Hannigan to life in the classic 1982 movie, is someone I have studied and idolized as far back as I can remember,” Henson said. “So when the opportunity came to me to join NBC and this incredible group of producers, I jumped! Carol, I hope to do you proud!

The studio is still looking for their “Annie. ” Auditions for the role  will happen virtually, and rehearsals will take place in October and November 2021 in New York, according to reports. The musical will debut on-screen Thursday, Dec. 2 on NBC.

LeToya Luckett Joins Cast Of Fox’s “Our Kind Of People”

Greenleaf showed us that our girl LeToya Luckett can act. The girl played the mess out of her character Rochelle Cross. So, when the OWN network show came to an end fans were pretty sad.

LeToya Luckett

But, no worries she’s headed back to the small screen in Fox’s “Our Kind Of People.”

Last week I blogged about Our Kind of People and Morris Chestnut playing the lead role in this drama based in a fictional version of Martha’s Vineyard.

According to Deadline, Luckett will play Leah Franklin-Dupont, a strong, confident, elegant businesswoman, who, along with her husband Raymond (Chestnut), sits at the top of the food chain of the wealthy, long-standing Black elite in Martha’s Vineyard. Leah feels the pressure of her position, and a responsibility to give back to the Black community. But when Angela Vaughn (DaCosta) arrives and starts to shake things up and threaten her family’s legacy, Leah makes it her mission to bar Angela from acceptance into The Bluffs before she tears down everything Leah’s family has built.”

Oh and she has a word for anyone who’s faith is being tested right now.

I literally went from what’s next to  receiving this wonderful call while filming a movie ( hence my wardrobe) to how are we gonna work the schedule out 🤔 when God moves…he MOVES. If y’all could understand how he lined this thing up & how everything came together once I got out of the way & allowed him to lead. Now, hard work was a MAJOR part of getting me this opportunity. I will not deny that. Faith without works is dead, but I just want y’all to know how AMAZING God is. He’s NEVER failing. He ALWAYS has a plan for us. Trust him & LET GO! YOUR YES IS ON IT’S WAY!! Claim & BELIEVE THAT! ✨

Preach Girl!

Congratulations!!!!!!!

David E. Talbert has teamed up with LeBron James to bring a comedy inspired by his real life to ABC.

David E. Talbert

According to Deadline, Better Late is about a first-time dad whose world gets turned upside down when his own father, a charismatic deadbeat, shows back up hoping for a do-over with his son and a relationship with his grandson. The multi-camera comedy is a show about forgiveness, second chances and the search for silver linings even in the cloudiest of situations.

Oh boy… writing this is gonna require a lot of laughter though a lot of tears. And a lot of hugs from my wife and baby boy

Better Late is being produced by Talbert, his wife Lyn Sisson-Talbert and LeBron’s Springhill Company.
