Just The Two Of Us..Easter With My Mini Me

Just the two of us…..

Easter

My mother decided to travel to Chicago this Easter to spend time with my brother and his family which left my daughter and I to figure out how to enjoy our Resurrection Sunday.

Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.- Romans 8:34

When my husband was living my mom would make a big dinner before she left to go out of town and drop it off at our home.( she loved my husband that much and wanted to make sure he still got a Sunday dinner with all the fixings) well this year she didn’t leave nothing but a couple of chocolate chip cookies on her kitchen counter. lol

Easter

Anyway since I wasn’t cooking, I told my daughter we would go out for lunch. After calling around to see who had an open reservation, we ended up at Bonefish Grill in Madison, Mississippi.

Easter

We had the Bang Bang shrimp for appetizers and for our main course, my daughter had filet and crab cake and I had the cod imperial. Yum!

After lunch we did a little shopping, took a couple of pic’s and went to workout, before we called it a day!

A daughter is just a little girl who grows up to be your best friend. – Unknown

Gospel recording artist and Pastor Donnie McClurkin is opening up again about his sexuality and why he think’s he’ll be alone for the rest of his life.

Donnie McClurkin

‘I’ve messed up more than I’ve had good. My past relationships were a sprinkling of everything – men and women,’ the award winning Gospel singer revealed on an all new episode of TV One’s Uncensored.

“When things get rough I go back into my safe place – my music and my ministry,” he added. “Never having a long-term relationship in my life and never being married, I chalked that up. I will probably be alone for the rest of my life as far as a mate is concerned.”

You can watch the entire segment this Sunday on TV One at 10P/9C

McClurkin was previously linked to Christian singer Nicole Mullen (she recently got married).

Congratulations are in order for Bishop J. Drew Sheard and his family.

Bishop J. Drew Sheard

On Saturday the Church of God in Christ announced that they had elected Bishop Sheard as the worldwide leader of the organization, which is the largest Pentecostal denomination in the country.

The Bishop said the opportunity to serve the church in this manner is a dream come true by the grace of God.

“I am humbled and incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve this extraordinary organization, the Church of God in Christ, as its new leader and Presiding Bishop,” Sheard said. “To be elected to serve as the Presiding Bishop for the Church in which I was born, raised, and have learned and served all my life, is a dream and desire that can only be fulfilled by God’s loving grace and guidance. The opportunity to serve such an extraordinary organization at our highest recognized level of priesthood is beyond humbling. I am so grateful for the unparalleled support of my loving wife, Karen, who has served diligently alongside me in ministry, and for my children.   I could never adequately honor or appreciate my parents for demonstrating holiness by sheer example. With complete excitement and joy, I look forward to serving the Lord’s people.”

I’m A Christian And I Got The COVID Vaccine!

No images

I’m a Christian, I love the Lord, I meditate on His word day and night, and can preach the word like my late husband (he trained me well… lol) and yes I got the COVID vaccine.

COVID vaccine

So why as a Christian did I get vaccinated? Because in Matthew 22:39 God instructs us to love thy neighbor as thyself. As i read in Kentucky Today, the principle here is COMMON GOOD!

Some of us approach the idea of getting vaccinated thinking only of ourselves , saying things like,” God got me.”

COVID Vaccine

Here is the problem with that selfish mindset. Yea I said it. There are other people we should be thinking about. People who can’t take the vaccine (like expectant mothers) or people who may not have access to it yet that could still be infected by those who refuse to get the vaccine.

Back to COMMON GOOD: the principle here is benevolence, love, care for others, laying down personal priorities for the service of others. That’s how true #christians roll. .. and that is why as a proud Christian woman I got vaccinated because it’s never about me but about doing GOOD for others. On another note I’ve seen 1st hand the impact contracting this deadly virus can have on families…. specifically mine. You can read HERE about my beloved husband, Pastor Ernest E. Slaughter, Sr. who died from the coronavirus on January 23rd, 2021.

Sarah Jakes Roberts Releasing New Book

One of my favorite women who preach,  Sarah Jakes Roberts announced that she’s releasing her fifth book Woman Evolve: Break Up with Your Fears and Revolutionize Your Life,” which borrows insights from the story of Eve to show how women can harness the disappointments and even mistakes of their past  to transform their lives. The book will be released on April 6, 2021.

Sarah Jakes Roberts

Drawing on her own inspirational journey, Roberts explains how women can change their lives by facing their fears and moving through obstacles one step at a time. The book is named for the larger Woman Evolve lifestyle movement, which Roberts launched three years ago to help every woman realize her own potential, and includes podcasts, sold out tours, philanthropy, video content and more.

Though inspired by scripture, “Woman Evolve” is written for all women regardless of faith. Each of the  chapters include a “Work it Out” section, which takes the reader through exercises to help them identify their challenges and then move past them.

“Since starting this movement, I’ve had an opportunity to meet women from so many walks of life,” Roberts said. “I’ve seen women ‘s desires for lasting, transformational change. With the “Woman Evolve” book, I wanted to offer a guide for going more in-depth. It’s not that women don’t recognize the need for change in their lives, but they often don’t know where to start. This book offers women the tools and advice to take ownership of their journey and revolutionize their world from the inside out.

“Woman Evolve” is now available for preorder.
