Comedian Dave Chappelle made a rare stand up appearance on Sunday night in New York at the Cutting Room, it is there the comedian made the comment, “‘Black lives matter is a terrible slogan,’ he said. He much prefers Dwayne Wade’s hashtag ‘enough is enough.’”
Chappelle was at the Cutting Room gearing up for his bigger show, three nights at the much larger Gramercy Theater in New York. According to reports guest were not allowed to bring cellphones or any recording devices as the comedian tried out new material.
The comedian began the hour by saying, quite jovially: “This will be a racist show. I’m telling you now.” His jokes about blacks and white were evenly divided. But the subjects of the day were right up there. “Black lives matter is a terrible slogan,” he said. He much prefers Dwayne Wade’s hashtag “enough is enough.”
What Chappelle is looking for in people is empathy. “When did it become just caring about ourselves and not caring about other people?” he asked rhetorically.
