“Hello, this is Dayna Caddell”, the gospel-recording artist humble, soft toned, and beautiful spirit shines through her voice.
It’s quite surreal to be speaking to the woman whose song “Crazy” became my anthem, when I first launched my blog. I was completely captivated by her sound, when she sings, you hear God! I immediately started following her gospel career, and cheered her on as she was nominated for a Grammy® and Dove award for her songwriting abilities, for the release of “Every Prayer,” featuring Israel Houghton and Mary Mary, and a co-writer for Ricardo Sanchez’s “Power of the Cross.”
Then all of a sudden, Dayna was gone off the scene. The singer started struggling with sickness, after sickness that she later found out was an Autoimmune Disorder. It has been 4 years and Dayna is BACK! And BACK better than ever. She has a new CD out, PUSH, and video that teaches us all how much God loves us. I talked to Dayna about her health and her new album.
On Auto Immune Disorder:
Dayna said she had no warning, she was on her grind, writing, and working on an album, and then all of a sudden she started getting ill, even having to be admitted to the hospital. The singer who say’s “I’m Making a Comeback from a Come Up” revealed it took doctors 21/2 years to give her a diagnoses. According to the American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association (AARDA), it takes an average of 5 years for a suffer to be diagnosed properly.
Autoimmune diseases affect various organs and organ systems. In the United States at least 23.5 million are affected by some form of autoimmune disorders, and are one of the leading causes of death and disability, and of the 50 million Americans living and coping with autoimmune disease (AD), more than 75 percent are women.
Dayna said while battling the disease, it’s important to have an overall healthy lifestyle.
“It’s important to know your triggers and to modify your diet and overall lifestyle. No stress, healthy eating, low activity, and moderate exercise,” explained Dayna.
Dayna is pushing through the disease, by taking care of herself, and treating the disease with Chinese medicine. After talking with Dayna, I am convinced that whatever she goes through, whatever struggle may present itself, she’ll remember to PUSH (pray until something happens!) which happens to be the title of her latest album.
On her latest single God Loves You from her album PUSH:
Dayna revealed the single is produced by My Block Records CEO, Warryn Campbell, and stems from a letter her nephew read to her from a girl. Dayna thought the letter was “whack”.
“I thought the letter was whack, and that’s where the song came from. I got a revelation from that, that all you need is God’s love and you’re good.”
“Don’t compromise who you are for nobody!,”[xyz-ihs snippet=”dcaddell3″]
I ended the interview asking Dayna about the state of our nation as well all get ready to cast our vote for President on Nov. 8th
“At the end of the day, whoever is president, God is still in control, “said Dayna.
Dayan Caddell latest CD PUSH is a collection of creatively cohesive songs that encapsulate the album’s theme of inspirational-driven tunes.
