Inside Edition correspondent, Megan Alexander describes staying true to your faith while getting ahead in your career in new book “Faith in the Spotlight”
Christian reporter, Megan Alexander shares how she became successful while remaining true to herself and her beliefs, showing that it’s possible to fulfill your dreams while following one’s own moral compass in her new book.
Inside the book Megan talks about how she managed to avoid baring her body in the clothes she, as a Christian woman, finds too revealing.
The 36-year-old married mom of two even succeeded at talking her way out of wearing a risque Kim Kardashian look on national TV.
Shortly after a big awards telecast, she writes, she and several models were going to don favorite celebrity styles from the red carpet to show “Inside Edition” viewers how they can get a similar look for less money.
Fun, right? Not in every instance. Alexander recalls that “my gut twisted” upon learning that a stylist on one shoot had chosen a dress for her similar to a number worn by Kardashian.
“I looked at the white gown hanging up in my dressing room. Just like her dress, it would show lots of cleavage. I was sick just thinking about wearing that dress,” she writes in her book. “I was raised to believe that my body is a temple of the Lord and therefore that it is to be honored with modest apparel.”
She requested another outfit, but the stylist adamantly insisted she wear the one assigned. Alexander wouldn’t give up. “I pushed back,” she writes. “Heidi Klum had worn a short black dress, and we happened to have a similar option that was cute, fairly conservative and much more my style.”
She brought it to the stylist and explained: “I need to feel good about this shoot. My boss will notice if I lack confidence when I wear this dress.”
It worked, and Alexander felt proud.“This may seem like a small battle,” she writes, “but it was important to me.”
