Rapper JaRule, born Jeffrey Atkins joined NY public housing residents Tuesday morning at City Hall, for a rally and press conference to shed light on the residents living conditions.
During his speech, JaRule called out Mayor, Bill de Blasio and Governor Andrew Cuomo.
“The mayor, the governor, they should all be ashamed of themselves. These are Americans, New Yorkers living in Third World conditions, and it should not be this way,” Ja Rule said Tuesday at a rally outside City Hall.
This winter, 80% of NYCHA residents lost their heat or hot water at some point. The agency has been unable to keep its aging boilers up and running, leaving residents to shiver in their homes, according to the NY Post.
“I’m here to bring these cameras here, so we can bring light to this situation. This has been going on for a long time.”
The rapper made the commitment during an appearance on Hot97 to support the NYCHA residents in their protest for heat, and better living conditions.
