Mother, actress, producer, dancer and now author, Jenna DeWan is out promoting her new book “Gracefully You,” and sharing with the world how she dealt with the demise of her marriage in the public eye and finding love again with someone she met years ago.
Inside the book, she get’s real about her breakup from ex husband, Channing Tatum.
“Here’s the honest truth about my breakup: Yes, I carried a rose quartz in my bra and yes, I took herbal supplements to help me heal, but also my mom flew in to be by my side and I called my friends late at night to sob into their ears,” she wrote in the book. “You need to embrace it all and allow everything positive and productive to be part of the process. It is very important to surround yourself with people who lift you up, make you feel love and appreciated.”
The couple, who were married in 2008, and have a daughter named Everly together, announced they were divorcing in April of 2018.
Dewan admitted it took a lot of grace to handle the situation in the public eye.
“My advice to anyone going thorough heartbreak is this: acknowledge your emotions and do the work. Meet with a therapist, look into breath-work, meditate, take walks in nature, and have wine with your friends,” she wrote, according to US Weekly. “If you don’t transmute your feelings, you transmit them others — your child, coworkers, total strangers. … By moving through each day, I was able to gracefully make it to the other side. In the end, you will be a stronger, more expanded, even happier version of yourself.”
On finding love again with Steve Kazee, whom she is expecting a child with.
“When I was ready, I started dating someone amazing,” she revealed. “It was this cosmically great thing where we circled back around each other after a moment of instant recognition years ago. Those stories you hear of seeing someone and feeling an insane remembrance that just sticks with you? Well, I had it happen, despite the odds.”
