Lee Daniels said on Friday that he’s going to pay Damon Dash back the $2 million investment he owes him.
Dash posted a video (it’s gone now) on social media last week of himself confronting Daniels about owing him $2 million. Dash invested the $2 million into a couple of projects Lee was working on. Dash basically said that after he invested the $2 million, Daniels avoided him.
Then on Friday (June 29th) Daniels did an interview with TMZ saying that he’s going to pay Dash back his money. Daniels even shared that when nobody in Hollywood was giving him money, Damon Dash did.
“I looked him in his eyes and told him he would get his investment back.”
“When nobody in Hollywood was giving me money, after my Academy award, unprecedented with Halle Berry, nobody was giving me money,” he said. “Damon’s crazy ass was crazy enough to give me money for The Woodsman and for Shadowboxer. The investment for Shadowboxer didn’t pay off.”
“I am in the position now to get it to him, so I’m going to get it to him because I think that’s the right thing to do,” Daniels continued. “It sadly took that wake-up call during Diana’s “Reach Out And Touch Somebody’s Hand” for me to realize that and for me to sit with myself.”
Dash posted the Daniels TMZ clip on his Instagram account, with the caption, “We’re good bro…appreciate the honesty.”
