If you missed out on former first lady Michelle Obama’s Becoming book tour no worries… its headed to Netflix with behind the scenes footage and all!
In a statement, the former first lady said the doc will look at “my life and the experiences” she had while on tour.
“Those months I spent traveling—meeting and connecting with people in cities across the globe—drove home the idea that what we share in common is deep and real and can’t be messed with,” she wrote in a lengthy statement (which can be read in full below). She added that the tour takes on a new meaning in the wake of the spread of COVID-19.
“I treasure the memories and that sense of connection now more than ever, as we struggle together to weather this pandemic, as we care for our loved ones, tend to our communities, and try to keep up with work and school while coping with huge amounts of loss, confusion, and uncertainty,” Obama wrote.
Netflix also released a brief teaser for the doc, featuring Obama talking with a group of young black girls at the African American Museum in Philadelphia during a community event on the Becoming tour. In voiceover, Obama explains that she “craved some longer experiences with young people.
