My Favorite Celebration of Gospel Moment: The Andrae Crouch Tribute

383

BET’s Celebration of Gospel aired last night, and my favorite moment was when the saints (Jessica Reedy, Kurt Carr, Donald Lawrence and Co., Donnie McClurkin, Shirley Caesar, Tamela Mann, Geoffrey Golden, BeBe Winans) took the stage to pay tribute to the legendary, Andrae Crouch.

The gospel singers, sang everything from We are Not Ashamed to Let the Church Say Amen in honor of Andrae Crouch’s legacy, and they brought the house down.  I even noticed tears on folks faces as you can tell they were remembering the remarkable life of Crouch. This performance is what I would consider “celebrating gospel”  to me gospel music is music that bring folks to Christ, the kinda music that causes a stirring on the inside.

BET wrote on their website:

The world lost a legend. Andraé Crouch passed at the age of 72, and was known foremost as gospel singer as well as one of the most successful vocal arrangers, songwriters and choir leaders of his time! We honor Pastor Crouch for leaving behind music that we will be able share for years and years to come.
