Pastor Corey Donavan Johnson and wife Pastor Tania Phillips Johnson leaders of Hands of Faith Deliverance Center Inc. in Riverdale, GA is mourning the lost of their son, Michale Phillips, who was also an ex-bodyguard of rapper Future.
Clayton County, Georgia officials say Phillips, 27, was murdered Monday afternoon, when a gunman shot and killed the 27-year-old bodyguard at his front door Monday afternoon at his home in Jonesboro, GA. His wife Jameela Phillips, who is 9 months pregnant, was there.
It’s been reported that neighbors heard “some arguing and gunshots” inside Phillips home around 1pm EST. Authorities are still searching for the gunman.
According to Lt. Frank Thomas, the Clayton County Police Department is still “interviewing Phillips’ neighbors and trying to piece together what happened.”
Michael Phillips and his young bride had their entire life together ahead of them when they married on a beach in the Dominican Republic just 8 months ago. He also played the piano at his parents church.
Georgia police want to talk to Future to see if he can help them find who shot and killed his former bodyguard, according to TMZ.
Police said they do not have any suspects, but do have several leads in the case and would like to speak to all of Michael Phillips’ friends for information.
Future tweeted a message to Phillips today (January 26).
“Rest in Paradise Big Mike Lafamilia forever lil bro #FBG,” Future wrote on Twitter.
There is also a GoFundMe account set up for his wife to help expenses since the loss of her husband.
