TV Personality, Piers Morgan was not pleased with the Catholic theme at the 2018 Met Gala.
In a column written in the Daily Mail, Morgan voiced his concern with the religious themed event.
“I’m a Catholic,” Morgan wrote for the Daily Mail. “Not the most devout you’ll ever meet, I’ll admit. But I was brought up a Catholic – I even received not entirely successful spiritual guidance from nuns as a teenager! – and I still consider myself to be a Catholic. I know many people don’t believe in any God or religion, let alone Catholicism, and I respect that. All I ask in return is for my beliefs, not to be rudely disrespected.”
Celebrities like Rihanna came dressed in a Pope inspired look, Katy Perry dressed as an angel, and Bella Hadid came dressed in an all-black ensemble, created custom for her by Chrome Hearts, with whom she has a collection, to the “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” themed Gala.[xyz-ihs snippet=”KPMet”] [xyz-ihs snippet=”rihannamet”] [xyz-ihs snippet=”BHMet”]
“A lot of the imagery was highly sexualized, which you might think not just inappropriate for a religious theme, but also incredibly offensive to the many victims of sex abuse in the Catholic Church,” Morgan pointed out.
“To me, this year’s Met Gala crossed a line and was openly, brazenly disrespectful,” Morgan said.[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ym_2ZNIN16E[/embedyt][/vc_column_text][td_block_trending_now][td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_1″][td_block_1 custom_title=”MERGING FAITH WITH POP CULTURE” category_id=”9″ ajax_pagination=”next_prev”][td_block_2 custom_title=”CHRISTIAN/ GOSPEL MUSIC” category_id=”21629″ limit=”6″ td_ajax_filter_type=”td_category_ids_filter” ajax_pagination=”next_prev”][td_block_15 custom_title=”CHRISTIAN ENTERTAINMENT NEWS” category_id=”21732″ limit=”3″ ajax_pagination=”next_prev”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][td_block_ad_box spot_id=”sidebar” spot_title=”- Advertisement -“][/vc_column][/vc_row]
