The Preachers officially debuts July 11, 2016 is promoting its upcoming test run with new promotional teasers.
Produced by Telepictures Productions, The Preachers features four outspoken preachers known for their unique takes on pop culture, news events and spirituality. The series will be hosted by John Gray, a gifted musician and associate pastor at Lakewood Church in Houston; Dr. E. Dewey Smith Jr., senior pastor/teacher at The House of Hope Atlanta and The House of Hope Macon, GA; Orrick Quick, pastor and founder of God Seekers Church in High Point, NC; and Dr. Jamal Bryant, pastor and founder of Empowerment Temple AME Church in Baltimore.
So, what do these guys want you to know about them and their show?
Well, Smith says they are about “being a good partner, being strong for your family,” but also, according to Gray, “We’re not your mama’s preachers!”
“I think it’s gonna be great if you consider this is the largest generation of Americans who have faith, but don’t participate in organized religion,” said Empowerment Temple founder Jamal Bryant in an interview with FOX LA.
He added, “So to have an opportunity for them to explore faith and talk about contemporary issues is bringing sanctuary in a brown paper bag. So it’s gonna be great.”
“I think contemporary pop culture needs a different perspective,” said staff pastor Gray, who ministers during mid-week services at Osteen’s church. “I don’t think that there’s anything wrong with being inherently spiritual in your foundational worldview, but it is not the sum total of who were are.”
