On Sunday, Pastor Ron Carpenter preached his last sermon at Redemption Church, as he handed the keys over to Pastor John Gray.
“I want the agreement of the house because this is not a trivial moment to me,” Carpenter, who founded Redemption in 1991, told the congregation. “This is the peaceful transference of power.”
Carpenter asked members of the church to lay their hands on Gray as he prayed for protection, wisdom and favor for Gray and his wife, Aventer, according to the Christian Post. He then handed a key to Gray, noting he had it since the day he started Redemption.
“From this moment forward, this is Relentless Church,” Carpenter said after the emotional handoff, introducing the new name of the megachurch under Gray’s leadership.
On the midseason finale of the Book of John Gray on OWN, viewers got the opportunity to see the moment Ron Carpenter called John Gray, who was the associate pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston, and asked him to take over Redemption Church.
Mother’s Day will be Gray’s first official Sunday as the new lead Pastor at what is now Relentless Church.
The church will hold an installation service for Pastor Gray on June 3rd, with Pastor Joel Osteen.[/vc_column_text][td_block_trending_now][td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_1″][td_block_1 custom_title=”MERGING FAITH WITH POP CULTURE” category_id=”9″ ajax_pagination=”next_prev”][td_block_2 custom_title=”CHRISTIAN/ GOSPEL MUSIC” category_id=”21629″ limit=”6″ td_ajax_filter_type=”td_category_ids_filter” ajax_pagination=”next_prev”][td_block_15 custom_title=”CHRISTIAN ENTERTAINMENT NEWS” category_id=”21732″ limit=”3″ ajax_pagination=”next_prev”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][td_block_ad_box spot_id=”sidebar” spot_title=”- Advertisement -“][/vc_column][/vc_row]
