A biopic about the late Sammy Davis Jr. has found a home at Paramount Pictures.
According to Deadline, the project is on the development fast track, and will soon be hiring a writer and a director.
The movie will be based in large part on the 1965 memoir Yes I Can: The Story of Sammy Davis, Jr. that he penned with Jane and Burt Boyar.
Lionel Richie, and Davis’ heirs has joined the production team lead by Mike Menchel and Lorenzo di Bonaventura.
Richie was the key to getting all the rights deals done to be able to bring Davis’ story to the masses. “I cannot tell you how excited I am about the signing of the Sammy Davis Jr. project with Paramount,” said Richie. “I knew and loved Sammy dearly.”[/vc_column_text][td_block_trending_now][td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_1″][td_block_1 custom_title=”MERGING FAITH WITH POP CULTURE” category_id=”9″ ajax_pagination=”next_prev”][td_block_2 custom_title=”CHRISTIAN/ GOSPEL MUSIC” category_id=”21629″ limit=”6″ td_ajax_filter_type=”td_category_ids_filter” ajax_pagination=”next_prev”][td_block_15 custom_title=”CHRISTIAN ENTERTAINMENT NEWS” category_id=”21732″ limit=”3″ ajax_pagination=”next_prev”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][td_block_ad_box spot_id=”sidebar” spot_title=”- Advertisement -“][/vc_column][/vc_row]
