Olympic Gold Medalist, Simone Biles has released her new book (which is already a Best Seller), entitled “Courage To Soar: A Body In Motion, A Life In Balance.” In the book, Simone takes us through the events, challenges, and trials that carried her from an early childhood in foster care to a coveted spot on the 2016 Olympic team.
Along the way, Simone shares the details of her inspiring personal story—one filled with the kinds of daily acts of courage, and faith that led her to the most unlikely of dreams.
The Olympic Gold Medalist, and now author credits her faith as instrumental in her success. Having been abandoned by her father, and with her mother addicted to alcohol, Simone, along with some of her siblings were adopted and raised by her maternal grandfather and his second wife. When not competing, she regularly goes to church with her grandparents.
Simone is a Catholic, and in her Olympic bag is a white rosary which signifies her devotion to her faith. She has already claimed that she regularly lights a candle to St. Sebastian, the patron saint of athletes, before she competes for big events, such as Rio 2016.
