Former ESPN journalist, Jemele Hill and her boo Ian Wallace got married on Sunday at Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, California, but Detroit was everywhere.
“We were very intentional with everything we did, Jemle shared with Bossip. We wanted to bring Detroit to LA. That’s why we had DJ Kutz, who is from Detroit, come in and turn this wedding into a Detroit-style party. We wanted to laugh, love and for guests to have the time of their lives”
Hill and Wallace originally met while attending Michigan State University. They were together for almost four years before becoming engaged at the end of last year.
Celebs like Hill’s ESPN co-host Michael Smith, Gabrielle Union, Deborah Joy Winans, and Music Soulchild were in attendance, Musiq also was part of the couples surprise for guest who attended the reception.
“All the couples will join us on the dance floor,” Ian told Essence. “And Musiq Soulchild is going to sing some love songs. So we’ll all have a moment together, and this will be after our first dance.”
The couples wedding video was also so Detroit!
The bride wore a custom, strapless, minimalist high-low wedding gown with a convertible sheer skirt by Vera Wang, while the groom chose a custom-made white tux from Atlanta-based celebrity tailor Miguel Wilson.
Congratulations to the Unbothered podcast host and “Ol boy” as she use to affectionately call him.
