Back in the day I would take criticism \"very personally.\" But after dealing with it for over 20 years I\'ve learned to handle it like my momma taught me to eat catfish... Eat the meat and throw away the bones!
If somebody is critical of you, your family or your platform, you have to stop and look at it … and ask yourself. Is there any truth here? Even if I don\'t like the person who just told me about it … if there\'s any truth, you need to take it, learn from it, be gracious, if there\'s apologies that need to be made, make them. if you need to make changes, make them, and then just like catfish throw away the bones.
However, there are times when criticism is totally wrong, \"off base\" or a \"total misjudgment of a situation.\" At those times.....FORGIVE!
At the end of the day we have to forgive. We have to forgive because people are going to hurt us. I tell women all the time, hurt is inevitable, just find the one you\'re willing to hurt for! Sometimes folks will say and do the most horrendous things...still FORGIVE!
What other choice do we have, really? At end of day we have to forgive for our own soul\'s sake!
