Kirk Franklin Honored At The Inaugural Black Music Walk of Fame Ceremony

Kirk Franklin was honored during the inaugural Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame ceremony in Atlanta earlier this week.

Kirk’s wife Tammy was on hand looking fierce in a white pantsuit and hat to support her husband.

On being honored for his work in Gospel music:

“It’s overwhelming,” Franklin told theGrio. “It’s overwhelming to know where I come from and there’s so many people who really are the architects of gospel music in America that were the soundtrack to a lot of changes that we saw in urban America’s music, but they never got the recognition, they never got the notoriety.”

Kirk was also joined by his youngest daughter, Kennedy, who spent some time talking with Atlanta’s Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms.

The Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame in Atlanta is located on a sidewalk along Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in front of the Mercedes Benz Stadium.

All inductees received a Crown Jewel of Excellence along with their emblem on the Walk of Fame.

Produced by Just Blaze, the uptempo track is the lead single from the upcoming soundtrack.

Kirk Franklin and Sony have launched a new podcast series “Good Words with Kirk Franklin.”

The new podcast series welcomes people from every cross section of life who seek inspiration and empowerment. Through intimate conversations exploring faith, redemption, and the realities of today’s world, Kirk invites listeners into shared moments with some of the biggest names across entertainment, beginning with Pharrell Williams.

In a deeply personal and introspective conversation that explores shared common experiences, Franklin provides listeners with fascinating insight as Pharrell discusses his approach to life and his relationship with God. Pharrell explains the lasting impact of Gospel music and the Pentecostal Church on his formative years, and his discovery of “purpose” and how it informs his life. The wide-ranging, candid conversation spans discussion around the COVID-19 pandemic to lighter moments that touch upon Pharrell’s well-known skincare regimen and his new series, Voices of Fire, that recently launched on Netflix.

The album is being issued in a limited vinyl edition on October 2nd, celebrating the record’s 25th anniversary. Available in limited quantities, the album can be pre-ordered online via Walmart, Amazon and Barnes & Noble. 

 Featuring ten tracks, Christmas includes Kirk’s recordings of timeless songs as well as original favorites that have made this a classic album for the holiday season, including my fav, “Now Behold the Lamb” featuring Tamela Mann.

Kirk Franklin and his family have been keeping us entertained throughout this coronavirus pandemic.

Ya’ll remember that Mother’s Day “Savage Remix” they did with all the mother’s in their family?

On Tuesday the Gospel music superstar posted a hilarious family video of he and his wife Tammy celebrating being empty nesters as they send their last two kids back off to college.

Kirk Franklin Helps Surprise A Utility Worker On The Kelly Clarkson Show

Gospel music superstar Kirk Franklin helped Kelly Clarkson surprise a utility worker on her talk show Monday.

After a young lady named Sarah overheard a utility worker named Albert singing, she asked him if he would serenade her mother who is living in an assisted living facility. Albert said yes and song “His Eye Is On The Sparrow,” from afar. Her mother, who has dementia loved it!

So during the segment, Kirk surprised Albert and Sarah with an uplifting message and thanked them for continuing to bring joy into the world during this COVID-19 pandemic.

Kirk and Kelly also had a little fun during the segment also, with Kelly sharing that she grew up listening to Kirk and singing Gospel. The Grammy award winning Gospel singer, being his funny self replied,”I know your throat got some Sunday morning on it.” lol…

They also discussed Kirk’s Verzuz battle with Fred Hammond, he called it a culture phenomenon, and I couldn’t agree more.

Kirk Franklin and Todd Galberth Honored At BMI Trailblazers Of Gospel

BMI paid tribute to Kirk Franklin and Todd Galberth with its Trailblazers of Gospel Music celebration.

Reverential hymn “I’m Getting Ready,” co-written by Todd Galberth, received the accolade for BMI’s Gospel Song of the Year. Performed by Tasha Cobbs Leonard, featuring Nicki Minaj, the song spent 52 weeks on Billboard’s Gospel charts and peaked at number one, earning Galberth one of BMI’s top honors and his very first BMI Gospel Award. 

Kirk Franklin received the coveted Songwriter of the Year title for writing three of BMI’s most performed Gospel songs of 2019; “If You Don’t Mind,” “Love Theory,” and “Never Alone.” The 16-time GRAMMY winner now has 17 BMI Awards to add to his collection of accolades including three BMI Gospel Song of the Year awards, BMI’s 2012 Trailblazers of Gospel Music honoree recognition and multiple Dove and Stellar awards, among many others.

Kirk Franklin has done to us what Beyonce did to us on Juneteenth.

The award winning Gospel artist and GOAT dropped a heart felt rendition of the Negro National Anthem, “Lift Every Voice & Sing,” to honor the fourth of July. The video features Kirk on the piano in all black along with a slew of singers belting out the lyrics dressed in all black as well.

Kirk Franklin, his wife Tammy and two of their children, Caziah and Kennedy still had communion even though there is no “In-person” church going on.

Kirk posted a photo on Instagram of his family taking communion, with the caption “communion at the crib” and hashtags: “wanna be a good leader” and “safe at home.” His wife Tammy gave her seal of approval:

“You lead us so well,” she wrote under the picture.

The couples oldest daughter, Carrington and her husband were not there due to the Texas #StayAtHome order.

The award winning artist also recently shared a pic of his family with the caption,”My peace in the midst of the storm.”

Kirk Franklin Wins Big At Grammy’s On 50th Birthday

Talk about a bomb birthday present! Kirk Franklin won Best Gospel Album for “Long Live Love” and Best Gospel song for “Love Theory” during the 62nd annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night.

Franklin who was presented the award by PJ Morton sent prayers to Kobe Bryant and his family after thanking his “baby momma Tammy” aka his wife of 24 years the gorgeous inside and out Tammy Franklin.

It was a family affair for Kirk as well, all of his children walked the red carpet with him and Tammy and they all were dressed in silver ensembles.

Also, during the show Kirk along with John Legend and DJ Khaled took the audience to church as they paid homage to the late Nipsey Hussle performing “Higher” which later won Best Rap Song.
