Lecrae has teamed up with John Legend on his latest single “Drown.”
“My new single ‘Drown’ ft. @johnlegend releases this Friday. John and I labored on this one. Even after the initial session we jumped on FaceTime to tweak it. The man is as equally talented as he is humble. His gift and passion bleed thru it. I’m honored to work with my brother. Excited for you all to hear this,” the rapper wrote on social media Thursday.
Lecrae and Tori Kelly song of healing and hope “I’ll Find You” is RIAA Certified Platinum!
“Life is a precious gift. A gift we often take for granted until it is threatened. Pain can be a haunting reminder to appreciate every waking moment. So we wrote a song to share our hope in the midst of that pain. At the time of this song’s composition, some of our loved ones were battling cancer. We wanted to encourage them to hold on and tell them we are here waiting, hoping, praying, and fighting with them. Some have been released from their pain forever, others are still fighting. Hold on…” ~ Lecrae
“Just fight a little longer my friend It’s all worth it in the end But when you got nobody to turn to Just hold on, and I’ll find you”
Grammy Award-winning rapper, Lecrae said he hopes his new album, Restoration (out next month) , and its accompanying book “I Am Restored,” will inspire the black community to focus on what God says about them and not the world.
Here is an excerpt from the conversation the Atlanta based rapper had with Black Enterprise.
I’m excited to put out some healing music. I want people to know that you’re never too messed up for a restoration. Second divorce, prison sentence, it doesn’t matter. There’s always hope, healing, and restoration available if you seek it.
I want to restore the view the black community has of itself. We can change the narrative, empower the disenfranchised, and close wealth gaps. We can restore the dignity that was stripped from us. We can lean on God to restore our sense of purpose and worth. I am partnered on several projects to restore Atlanta’s English Avenue, an area known for its rampant drug trafficking and violent crime statistics. I’m also an active member of the Board of Advisory for Peace Academy, the first school in the English Avenue area to be opened in more than 20 years.
With the arrival of Kanye’s new album, Jesus Is King, Lecrae’s socials were lit with fans, supporters, and media outlets requesting his reaction to Kanye’s latest release.
He took time away from recording his 9th album to offer his reactions to the album and also respond to questions about his support of Kirk Franklin’s boycott of The GMA Dove Awards.
The rapper talked exclusively with Billboard offering his reaction to the album: “It [Kanye] sounds like a person who is excited about his new relationship with Jesus. I’m in support of that.” He also expressed hope that Kanye being explicit about faith in his music will allow other religious rappers to appreciate the spotlight on Jesus in places where they may not have previously had an audience.
He also took to his Instagram Live explaining why he’s joined with other Gospel artist in standing with Kirk Franklin who announced that he’s boycotting The GMA Dove Awards.

Lecrae, along with hip-hop artist, Derek Minor took a trip to Israel to add “fuel to their faith,” and restore their relationship.
During the trip Lecrae was baptized in the Jordan River .
“Today we got baptized in the Jordan River. The one John baptized Jesus in. I was joking before I got dipped and I said if a bird lands out here like the dove on Jesus, bruh….I’m gonna have a heart attack. Just take me to heaven cause God is speakin too loud! Well look at the pics. I love the Jordan because of all the symbolism it holds. It was the border of the promised land. It was the picture of safety and security. Getting baptized in it was an incredible experience for me,” he wrote on Instagram.
The Christian rapper also posted a pic of him and Derek Minor, and shared how the trip was a trip of restoration for him and Minor’s relationship.
“Backstory…I’ve know @thederekminor for years. He’s like a brother to me.. except I wasn’t really great at being brother to him. I let him down more than a few times.”
I wasn’t operating from a healthy place and damaged our relationship. Time goes by where we didn’t talk much but he goes to Israel/Palestine and comes back and reaches out to me. I’m a little shocked. He’s like listen “after what I’ve seen over there bro…God is too big to hold on to our past issues.” He offers to take me with him next time he goes..at no cost. Fast forward now I’m over here in Isreal and Palestine blown away. As God restores my relationship with my brother, I’m praying for restoration in the Middle East and everywhere and for YOU whoever you are reading this. God is a restorer. God is YOUR restorer.”
The guys along with a couple of friends, also journeyed through Jericho, the Mount of Olives, and the Mount of Beatitudes.
