Oprah Winfrey understands how important this upcoming Presidential election is, so she’s giving her employees the day off!
“America can and will be a more perfect union.”
In a post celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Women’s Suffrage movement, Lady O announced that Nov. 3rd will be a company holiday.
“I’m announcing that November 3rd, Election Day, will be a company holiday at @owntv. This will give my team the necessary time to put on their masks, get to the polls, cast their ballots, and volunteer. I challenge other companies to do the same because this might be the most important election of our lives. Together we can overcome all obstacles in order to exercise our right to vote,” the media mogul wrote.
Oprah Winfrey’s Magazine will cease printing after its December 2020 issue according to a report from the Business of Fashion.
My favorite women’s magazine is not going away totally though, it will become more “digitally centered,” according to a statement from Hearst, it’s parent company. (Thank God!)
“As the brand celebrates twenty years of O, The Oprah Magazine, we’re thinking about what’s next, but again the partnership and the brand are not going away,” the rep said in a statement. “This is a natural next step for the brand, which has grown to an online audience of 8 million, extending its voice and vision with video and social content. We will continue to invest in this platform as the brand grows and evolves into one that is more digitally centric.”
Said Winfrey in a statement: “I’m proud of this team and what we have delivered to our readers over the past 20 years. I look forward to the next step in our evolution.”
I’m a huge fan of Oprah’s magazine, mainly because it’s always been about giving women the tools to live their best life and less gossipy.
The Oprah Winfrey Network announced they will honor Juneteenth with a slate of special encore airings of programming beginning at 3p.m.
The celebration will kick off with the evocative original documentary “Dark Girls,” followed by “Light Girls” at 4:30 p.m. ET/PT, “Oprah & Lupita Nyong’o on Colorism” at 6:30 p.m. ET/PT, “Oprah Winfrey Presents: Legends Who Paved the Way” at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT, “OWN: Spotlight: Where Do We Go From Here? (Part One)” at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT and “OWN Spotlight: Where Do We Go From Here? (Part Two)” at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.
Oprah Winfrey has pulled her name and Apple TV+ from the documentary inspired by Russell Simmons sexual assault accuser.
“I have decided that I will no longer be executive producer on The Untitled Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering documentary and it will not air on Apple TV+,” Winfrey said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “First and foremost, I want it to be known that I unequivocally believe and support the women. Their stories deserve to be told and heard. In my opinion, there is more work to be done on the film to illuminate the full scope of what the victims endured, and it has become clear that the filmmakers and I are not aligned in that creative vision.”
Oprah statement continued, “Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering are talented filmmakers. I have great respect for their mission but given the filmmakers’ desire to premiere the film at the Sundance Film Festival before I believe it is complete, I feel it’s best to step aside. I will be working with Time’s Up to support the victims and those impacted by abuse and sexual harassment.”
The film has been among the highest profile doc projects set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival later this month. Winfrey, who until now had served as an executive producer on the film, planned to air it on Apple TV+ following the festival.
The filmmakers sent in a statement to THR, noting that they will move forward with plans to premiere the film at the festival. “Revealing hard truths is never easy, and the women in our documentary are all showing extraordinary strength and courage by raising their voices to address sexual abuse in the music industry,” they added. “While we are disappointed that Oprah Winfrey is no longer an Executive Producer on the project, we are gratified that Winfrey has unequivocally said she believes and supports the survivors of the film. The #MeToo experiences of Black women deserve to be heard, especially against powerful men, so we will continue with our plans to bring the film to The Sundance Film Festival. The film, more than two years in the making, will be our eighth film to premiere at Sundance. The film is a beacon of hope for voices that have long been suppressed, and an inspiration for anyone wanting to regain their power power.”
Oprah Winfrey is denying reports by PageSix that she advised Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on their exit from the Royal family.
“Meghan and Harry do not need my help figuring out what’s best for them,” Winfrey, who famously attended the couple’s wedding in May 2018, shared in a statement to PEOPLE.
“I care about them both and support whatever decisions they make for their family.”
PageSix citing “sources” claim that the media mogul discussed their “declaration of independence” and encouraged them to consider making a living in North America by building their own powerful brand.
In their announcement stepping down from the Royal family, Harry and Meghan stated that they will spend time between the UK and North America as they work to make themselves financially independent.
Royal experts believe Harry and Meghan will make Canada their North America home since it’s part of the Commonwealth ( a group of nations with close ties to the Crown). Meghan called Toronto home for years while she filmed Suits, and she was living there when she and Harry first began dating. The couple’s first public appearance together was in support of Harry’s Invictus Games in Toronto in 2017.

Oprah leads the pack of women changing the world in People magazines “25 Women Changing The World” Issue on newsstands this Friday.
Inside the Issue, Oprah shares the 5 moments that changed her life, including not marrying her “forever” boyfriend, Stedman Graham.
“Life is a huge classroom, and when you learn one lesson, you get to move on to the next one.”- Oprah honored for empowering women for decades.
Swearing off sensationalist tv was a moment that changed the media mogul’s life, and we’re thankful that she did!
“The show with a man, his wife . . . and his mistress,” Winfrey recalls. “At the time, the producers thought this was one of the greatest bookings we could ever get. We thought, ‘He’s agreed to come on with his girlfriend? This is unbelievable.’ Then there was a moment when the man says to his wife, ‘You know what? There’s nothing you can do about [the affair], because [my mistress] is pregnant.’ We were live and I didn’t know he was going to tell her, nor did the producers know.”
“It’s one of my greatest shames, but a shameful act that allowed me to make the shift, because I go, ‘Never again will I do that to somebody,’” she says. “If I hadn’t, I would have been out of television much sooner.”
Actress Taraji P. Henson is featured for her work with mental health, and the foundation she started in her late father’s name.
My father always told me, ‘If you are blessed, then it’s your job to go out to the world and bless someone else.”
Senator Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren and actress Zoe Saldana are also featured.
