Sterling K. Brown plays a well-intentioned but domineering father in the new movie WAVES (out now) in a recent interview with Movieguide the award winning actor shared that he was a bit terrified of the story.
“What attracted me to this story is what I also was afraid of. There’s a central event, where a young black man takes a young woman’s life, and I was actually sort of terrified as to whether or not that was an image we needed to see in the world. I wanted to make sure that it was handled with responsibility and with an eye towards humanizing this young man and not making him stereotyped.”
Along with Brown, the film stars Kelvin Harrison Jr., Lucas Hedges, Taylor Russell, Alexa DemieRenée, and Elise Goldsberry, and centers around an emotional journey of a suburban African-American family as they navigate love, forgiveness and coming together in the aftermath of a loss.
