We All Make Mistakes! Steve Harvey Crowns Wrong Miss Universe

We all make mistakes! As host of the Miss Universe pageant Sunday night in Las Vegas, Steve Harvey announced Miss Colombia was the winner… but then he realized he had made a mistake, and she was actually the first runner-up. It was Miss Philippines who should have been crowned.

635862481945039186-AP-APTOPIX-Miss-Universe-PageantSteve Harvey took full ownership of the mistake, stating that he read the card wrong, and that it was an honest mistake and still a beautiful night.

The talk show host also took to Twitter to apologize and got some backlash for mistakenly spelling Philippians instead of the Philippines. Philippians is the eleventh book in the New Testament. Paul and Timothy first visited Philippi, in Greece, during Paul’s second missionary journey, which occurred between approximately 49 and 51 AD. Steve, who we know loves God, once again made a mistake.

Steve later fixed the tweet:

I’d like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible.

Steve Harvey has a huge heart and I can only imagine what was going through his mind when he realized the mistake, and being the show host having to “fix” it on national TV.  Keep in mind this was LIVE, so for him to be able to gracefully keep himself together…..once again I applaud him, because we all make mistakes!  Knowing Steve, he was probably as nervous as the ladies were, and remember this was his first time with the hosting duties.  Steve’s heart is so big that I would bet that he’s trying to figure out a way to say “I’m sorry” again to the ladies…
and I’ll end with this…. Romans 8:1 states: There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

So instead of poking fun at Steve, or kicking him while he’s down, I choose to lift him up….
